Washington, August 6, U.S. Secretary of state pompeio said on August 6 that Brian hooker, special representative of the United States on Iran and senior policy adviser to the Secretary of state, has decided to leave office. Pompeio issued a statement to announce the news on the same day, but he did not give the reason for Hooke’s resignation. Pompeio also said that special representative for Venezuela, Eliot Abrams, will serve as special representative for Iran and Venezuela at the same time after the transition period of Hooke’s resignation. The 52 year old hooker is a key figure in the U.S. policy of “extreme pressure” on Iran. He served as the policy planning director of the State Department from 2017 to 2018, and served as the special representative of the United States on Iran and senior policy adviser to the Secretary of state since August 2018.
