Sun Yanhua, an old man looking for soldiers

In Tonghua City, Jilin Province, sun Yanhua, 70, is known as the “living dictionary of red culture”. She is not a witness to the war of resisting U.S. aggression and aiding Korea. However, by looking for and interviewing veterans, she has restored many stories during the period of resisting U.S. aggression and aiding Korea. In October 1950, the Chinese people’s Volunteer Army sounded the clarion call to resist US aggression and aid Korea. As one of the channels for the volunteers to go to Korea, the front line of national mobilization and support in Tonghua area was the front line of the city at that time. The past year has passed, and those living veterans, stretchers, migrant workers, and medical workers who rescue the wounded are still living around us, but most of them are very old, I hope to find them and record their stories. ” Sun Yanhua said. < p > < p > in 2001, sun Yanhua retired early because of illness. After getting better, she devoted herself to writing. In creating a work about veterans, she met Xu Zhenming, an old soldier guarding the cemetery of Yang Jingyu martyrs. Xu Zhenming participated in the war of resistance against Japan, the war of liberation, the war of resistance against U.S. aggression and aid Korea. When he changed his career in 1958, he took the initiative to work in the Jingyu martyrs’ cemetery in Tonghua, guarding the mausoleum for the general. After his retirement, his son Xu Yongjun inherited the job, and the father and son have protected Yang Jingyu’s soul for 62 years. The deeds of Xu Zhenming made sun Yanhua have a deeper understanding and resonance with the veterans. In 2013, at the suggestion of Xu Zhenming, sun Yanhua, born during the period of resisting US aggression and aiding Korea, initiated the idea of looking for veterans to resist US aggression and aid Korea and record that period of history. “Most veterans are over 80 years old. I’m in a hurry!” Sun Yanhua said. < p > < p > she told the Old Cadres Bureau of Tonghua municipal Party committee, and the Bureau immediately decided to set up a report group for veteran cadres and appointed her as the person in charge. Without saying a word, sun Yanhua took his wife and drove at his own expense, starting a “military search tour.”. < p > < p > in the past seven years, she found Liu Dehou, a veteran who has won seven victories in the war. She interviewed Li runlan, a 15-year-old cultural teacher, and recorded Gao Dianjia, the “railway guard” who led 114 railway workers to repair railways, arrange bombs and rescue trains in the face of enemy planes As a documentary writer, she interviewed more than 200 war veterans, sorted out more than 400 veterans’ data, completed the veteran interview “glacier blood mountain”, veteran story anthology “blood monument” and five novels. In addition, she cooperated with her wife Hu Tanglin in editing the album “glory of the military flag”, which recorded 413 veterans’ combat resumes and pictures. Nearly 60% of them participated in the war to resist U.S. aggression and aid Korea. With the passage of time, the scope of her “search for soldiers” has also been extended to stretchers, railway workers, migrant workers, women cadres and medical personnel. With moving stories, she can more completely restore the true face of the people during the anti US war and aid Korea. < / P > < p > she and her wife donated the materials and pictures they collected to Tonghua Memorial Hall for resisting U.S. aggression and aiding Korea, and participated in the preparation of the exhibition hall. She also mobilized veterans to donate old objects from the war, so that the museum’s collection can more comprehensively and truly show that period of time, so as to encourage future generations to remember history and cherish peace. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Chinese people’s Volunteer Army’s fighting against US aggression and aiding Korea. Since June, sun Yanhua has assisted several departments of Tonghua in planning activities to commemorate the 70th anniversary of resisting U.S. aggression and aiding Korea, and has made 10 special reports. She told the true stories of the veterans one by one to tell the actions of the volunteers to defend the country in the anti US war and aid Korea, which aroused wide resonance. < / P > < p > “resisting U.S. aggression and aiding Korea is a part of the red history. It is an unforgettable time for veterans, old stretchers, veteran cadres and the older generation. What I want to do is to truly reflect the people and stories of that era and keep the spirit and pass on.” Sun Yanhua said.
