Somali government forces killed at least 11 al Shabab fighters

Mogadishu, October 13, Nairobi: the Somali military said on the 13th that the Somali government army killed at least 11 armed elements of the extremist organization “Al Shabab” in the southern part of the country on the 12th. Ahmed Hassan ZIYAD, commander of the Somali government army, told the media that the Somali army had received intelligence and “Al Shabab” armed elements had set up a “secret prison” to imprison local residents. Government forces then launched an offensive against al Shabab strongholds in the area, killing at least 11 armed elements, including a senior leader, and releasing the imprisoned residents.
