Somali government forces kill 51 al Shabab fighters

Mogadishu, Nairobi, December 1: Somali government officials said on December 1 that Somali government forces recently killed 51 armed elements of the extremist group “Al Shabab” in the southern part of the country. In a statement, Somali information minister Osman Dolby said that Al Shabaab fighters launched an offensive against a government military base in bakadwin town of Mudug state on November 30. 51 armed men were killed and 6 arrested by government forces. In addition, 15 people, including government soldiers, were killed in the attack.
