Driving about 60 kilometers northeast from Xi’an City in Shaanxi Province, near Yanliang railway station, there is a residential area with ochre red outer wall, where Xie Yongjiang, a veteran soldier of resisting US aggression and aiding Korea, lives. < p > < p > Xie Yongjiang, 96 years old, has grey hair and a loud voice. He was not able to move, so he used a cane many years ago. In his spare time, he would watch the news broadcast and listen to Pingju. On the night of February 19, 1951, Xie Yongjiang crossed the river with his troops from Anton to Korea to repair the railway bridges damaged by the enemy and ensure the smooth transportation line. < / P > < p > “when we arrived in Dingzhou, North Korea, we encountered enemy planes. First they dropped bombs, then they fired with machine guns. Two big holes were made in our carriage. ” Xie Yongjiang said that in the cold wind, the team arrived at the destination mengzhongli station. < / P > < p > the Qingchuan River Bridge connects Beijing, Italy and Pingbei lines in the north, connects Pyongyang in the south, and goes straight to the front line. It is the throat of resisting US aggression and aiding Korea. The main steel girder bridge on the river has long been dilapidated by the frequent bombing of dozens of enemy planes and bombs every day. The substructure of the temporary bridge has collapsed and it is difficult to open to traffic. The “throat line” was cut off, and dozens of material trains could only stop at the riverside station, which could be found by the enemy at any time. < / P > < p > the engineering team did not delay for a moment, and immediately put into repair work. They work in three shifts, unloading timber, transporting sand and stone, piling, erecting bent frames, building sleepers and fastening rails It only took more than two days to complete the repair and reinforcement of the first temporary bridge and resume the traffic. < / P > < p > but enemy bombardment was too frequent. “Sometimes it comes several times a day, and as soon as the bomb is dropped, the rail is blown up. As soon as the bridge breaks, the train can’t get through Xie Yongjiang recalled that in order to improve the traffic efficiency, the engineering team began to build the second temporary bridge. < / P > < p > construction started on both sides at the same time, with sleeper stacks built in shallow water and timber piles driven in deep water. “When we pile, we soak in the ice water. As soon as we get out of the water, the hose is full of ice debris.” Xie Yongjiang said that his legs were blackened by cold, and from then on he fell ill. < / P > < p > after nearly 10 days of rush construction by the engineering team, both ends of the temporary bridge have been in sight. On that day, the team members were driving and stabilizing piles in the deep water area of the river, and the enemy plane came again. < / P > < p > “the enemy is doing more and more damage, the more we want to do it! If you blow up this bridge, I’ll build that one. If you blow it in the daytime, I’ll fix it at night. ” Xie Yongjiang said. < / P > < p > at that time, several piers of Qingchuan River main bridge were built temporarily, and the temporary bridges were also constantly “repaired”. Their bearing capacity was limited and the traffic efficiency was poor. Xie Yongjiang put forward the opening method of “crossing the river at the top of a bull”, that is, in the bridge section which is under heavy pressure after emergency repair, one end of the bridge is carried by a train overhead and the other end is pulled by a locomotive. < / P > < p > “if the locomotive doesn’t cross the bridge, the speed will come up all at once. If the bridge is continuous, there will be an endless supply of goods. ” Xie Yongjiang said that in this way, the qingchuanjiang bridge was opened to traffic overnight, and 340 wagons of materials were seized. < p > < p > after returning to China, Xie Yongjiang put away his “little red book” and devoted himself to railway construction. He took part in the construction of Baoji Chengdu line, baotianma and other railway thoroughfares. He worked hard and thrifty all his life and never put forward any requirements to the organization.
