Canada takes reciprocal retaliation against the US aluminum tariff

Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau and Deputy Prime Minister Cristiana freyland announced on the evening of 6 June local time that as a counter measure of the United States imposing tariffs on Canada’s aluminum, Canada will impose tariffs on imported US goods, and the total amount of tariffs will be equivalent to that of the United States. Earlier in the day, U.S. President trump announced a 10% tariff increase on Canadian aluminum exports to the United States on the grounds of national security at the whirlpool plant in Ohio. The time of levy increase began on August 16.
